Befriending services

Our befriending services support people with a mental illness to engage in social activities as part of their recovery. Our befrienders empower clients to engage with their community and interests, to get out and about, and to connect with others.

Befriending activities are based on each individual’s needs and might include going for a coffee or a walk, visiting a museum or joining a new group. Our befrienders can help you build confidence and discover new interests and pastimes.

Based on the experiences of hundreds of service users our befriending services provide the opportunity to:

  • Increase social contact and make new friends
  • Build confidence and self-esteem
  • Gain new skills
  • Take part in local activities and groups
  • Rediscover old hobbies and interests – and develop new ones.
