New perspectives, new ideas – Hafal’s Spring Seminar success

28 May 2008 (updated: 28 May 2008)

Hafal brought together service users, policy-makers, commissioners and providers of mental health services for a Seminar in North Wales on May 15, entitled "What Users Want."

The event, which took place in Llanrwst, was an opportunity for participants to explore how together we can make the current framework of policy and practice work well for the individual user.

Key participants included Lord Elis-Thomas AM, Presiding Officer of the National Assembly for Wales, and Suzanne Vogel-Scibilia MD, Associate Professor of Psychiatry, immediate past President of the U.S. National Alliance on Mental Illness and herself a user of mental health services.

The Seminar was a great success and inspired much productive dialogue.  As a result, Hafal will publish a report setting out practical suggestions for commissioners and providers to help tune services to users' needs and ambitions.
