Hafal UP4IT project takes part in football match for World Mental Health Day

On World Mental Health Day 2018 the Hafal UP4IT project and ABUHB Early Intervention Service supported clients (current and past) took part in a football match against a Barry CMHT team to raise awareness of mental health.

The game was hosted at Jenner Park, the home of Welsh Premier League club Barry Town United, and was the third match played between the two teams after previous encounters in the last few years!

Our Newport team was looking to get their first win over Barry – and they managed just that in a brilliantly contested 8-5 win with Newport State Of Mind FC able to avenge their last two defeats, overcoming Vale Madrid!

Both teams were treated to Domino’s Pizza after the match and then headed up the road for a tour of Cardiff City Stadium, kindly provided by the Cardiff City Foundation. Participants were granted access to all areas of the Premier League stadium, such as the home and away dressing rooms, commercial boxes, the players’ tunnel and the Chairman’s private booth and boardroom.

All the participants had a brilliant day out and were able to raise awareness of mental health with a positive, fun-filled event!
