Welsh carers’ charity Hafal Crossroads will be staging a special event next month to celebrate the invaluable work done by unpaid carers in Powys.
The Carers Voice Powys Project event, ‘Caring for those who care’, will welcome unpaid carers ‘past and present’ and the people they care for. Guests will have the opportunity to take part in a range of physical health, arts and crafts and other activities. And for those who prefer a quieter day, meditation sessions and massages will be on offer!
Hafal Crossroads’ Powys Regional Manager Sophie Williams said: “This promises to be a really fantastic event which gives carers the opportunity to take a break and be pampered, which they wholeheartedly deserve!
“It’s hard to overestimate the value of carers – not just to the people they care for, but to society as a whole.
“Most of the care provided to people who are ill or disabled comes from family and friends. Without this care it is likely the NHS and social services would collapse. Indeed, the economic value of the contribution made by carers in the UK is now estimated to be over £130 billion per year.
“This event is designed to recognise and celebrate that contribution – and give carers, and the people they care for, a day to remember!”
The ‘Caring for those who care’ event takes place on Friday 2nd March 2018 at Highgate Luxury Cottages, Newtown, from 10.00am – 4.00pm, with lunch provided. Limited spaces for free all-inclusive accommodation and meals for carers and their cared-for are available. Experienced support staff will be on hand 24/7 at the event, should carers need support during their stay.
The event is supported by the Big Lottery Fund and PAVO.
