As we near the end of 2017 I would like to say a big thank you to Members for your support in all aspects of our work.
It’s been a busy year! In January we opened our newest venture Gellinudd Recovery Centre, in Pontardawe. This new service has already won lots of praise and an international award for best practice.
In April Hafal merged with carers’ charity Crossroads Care Mid & West Wales. This provides us with key opportunities to extend our services for carers.
We ran two very successful national campaigns in 2017. “FORCES for CHANGE” saw us reaching out to veterans with mental health problems, and “Reducing Risk, Achieving Recovery” identified key ways to support people with a mental illness in the criminal justice system.
Finally, in November we launched our new Money and Mental Health Advice service. The service is funded by Lloyds Banking Group and provides essential advice to support to people with financial problems.
Of course, our biggest achievements in 2017 are to do with individuals. People across Wales have been supported by our services to improve their lives and achieve recovery. It has been good to meet so many of you at our Members’ Days and other events, and to hear your stories.
2018 promises to be just as important for Hafal. Next year we will continue to campaign:
● for the rights of people in Wales with a mental illness
● for a fair deal for carers
● to make our Members’ voices heard in the review of the Mental Health Act
And, of course, we will be:
● delivering our new bilingual Mental Health and Money Advice Service
● continuing to deliver and develop high-quality services across Wales.
I look forward to updating you on our progress!
Thank you each and every one of you for your continued support. I wish you and your families a very happy and healthy 2018.
