Mental health service users and carers will have the opportunity to take part in a number of track and field events at Hafal’s very first North Wales ‘Let’s Get Physical!’ event which takes place in Eirias Stadium, Colwyn Bay on Tuesday 12th September 2017 between 10:00am and 3:00pm.
The event, which is run in partnership with CAIS, will be attended by service users and carers from across North Wales. It will give them the opportunity to try out a number of sports and activities including:-
- Track and field events
- Table tennis
- Tai chi
- Egg & spoon race
- Penalty shoot-outs
The ‘Let’s Get Physical!’ event is designed to complement the support delivered to clients and carers in Hafal’s local services to help them to make progress in the physical health and wellbeing area of their Recovery Plan.
As well as getting to try out some fun physical activities, participants will also get access to information, advice and guidance about how they can take small steps towards maintaining good health by eating more healthily, raising their activity levels and having regular health checks.
Hafal Chief Executive Alun Thomas said: “We are very excited to launch our first ‘Let’s Get Physical!’ event in North Wales. We hope it will be high-energy and lots of fun.
“Participants will be able to get advice and information on how they can improve their physical health, plus they can meet new people and, of course, take part in a variety of sports and activities. The best thing about the day is that anyone will be able to take part – you don’t need to be an athlete, you just need a have-a-go attitude!”
