Chris Evans MP for Islwyn visited Hafal’s Hyderus project in Caerphilly today. Hyderus staff and clients showcased the work that we do to support carers and people with serious mental illness in the area. Jaki Southgate – Carer Participation Officer – showed Chris around and he commented on how he is very impressed by the Hafal projects in his constituency of Islwyn, and especially by how they provide a holistic services and promote recovery.
There was a quiz, with prizes of Hafal goodies, and music from the Blackwood project – original songs composed and sung by the project participants, accompanied by Rec Rock! (Thank you Erin and Gabby!)
Then our guests were entertained with a performance from Pink Fly.
Jacki said: “Many thanks go to Kevin Lewis, Hyderus project coordinator, and Craig Bruzas, Trin project coordinator, and the very talented Pink Fly! for their performance, and also to the fantastic Red Rock.
And thanks to our catering team, Alison, Dave, Michelle and Hannah.
“Most of all thank you to all the carers and people who access our projects, to use our service or volunteer, and to the staff teams, and to Elin Jones – our Chair of Trustees – for your continued support and kind comments.
“Chris is a brilliant supporter of the work that Hafal does and he acknowledged this and gave his personal thanks in his closing comments.”
